San Diego International Airport Receives $20 Million from Federal Grant

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced the Biden Administration has awarded San Diego International Airport (SAN) $20 million in discretionary grant funds as part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law – Airport Terminal Program. The funds will be used for the New T1 program, which will replace the current Terminal 1 with a modern and efficient facility and includes improvements to the airfield, and transportation improvements to make it easier to get to and from the airport.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has provided San Diego County Regional Airport Authority (Airport Authority) with a Letter of Intent to award San Diego International Airport (SAN) funding for airfield improvements as a part of the New T1 program. A total amount of $110 million will be available to the Airport Authority through FAA grants over a 10-year period.

Allegiant Air & JetBlue Airways to Relocate Operations to Terminal 2

Effective February 18, Allegiant Air will operate from Terminal 2 East at San Diego International Airport (SAN). Allegiant’s ticket counter will be located at the west end of the American Airlines ticket counter and the airline will operate from gate 33 post-security. Effective February 24, JetBlue Airways will operate from Terminal 2 West at SAN. JetBlue Airways’ ticket counter will be located at the east end of the Delta Air Lines ticket counter and the airline will operate from gate 34 post-security.

SAN DIEGO – October 7, 2021 – Today, the San Diego County Regional Airport Board of Directors (Board) unanimously approved the maximum contract price and master project schedule for the design and construction of a new airport terminal to replace the existing Terminal 1 and related improvements.
